WHAT IS CRIN FOR HEADPIECES?

The crin for headpieces, also known as crinoline or horsehair, is a fine and delicate textile material with a lattice-like structure, much like a net, easy to mold and used to decorate clothing, hats, and accessories. It is also used as lining to give garments more volume and body.

Crin is generally made from polyester, nylon, and polypropylene with a cotton thread on one side of the ribbon so it can be gathered.

Its origins date back to the 16th century in Europe, where it started to be used exclusively by the upper classes. Nowadays, the use of crin is widespread among the population and can easily be seen embellishing accessories, wedding dresses, hats, wide-brimmed hats, headpieces, dance dresses, suits, and other outfits.

CRIN FOR HEADPIECES AND MUCH MORE

In millinery, crin is particularly used in headpieces. In fact, they are essential when making this accessory today. It can also be applied to hats.

There are multiple types of crin, such as smooth crin, dotted crin, or crin with spots. They can also be classified by the material they are made of, like the Buntal crin or the Sinamay crin.

Its use may involve creating a mantilla that covers the face of the wearer either partially or completely. It can be worn by brides during weddings as well as guests at a significant event.

There are many ways to treat crin to achieve all kinds of original effects, such as sewing, fraying, or melting it. Moreover, you can cut it wherever you want without the need to sew the ends, making it very easy to work with.
