Hard - Most commonly used when working with delicate tools such as ultra-fine spoons, a knife and small-diameter iron balls. Needed for creating embossed vein patterns on leaves, and when working with small flowers, lilies, etc.
Medium sponge - fairly versatile, handy when working with small and medium-sized petals and leaves.
Soft - used when working with larger petals, i.e. where large convex shapes are needed.
