Jinsin is a woven straw fabric renowned for its sculptural quality. It has a buntal straw warp and a polyester thread weft, so it falls in strong vertical lines with which you can create powerful sculptural curves.
Jinsin produces an interesting effect when dyed, because it is a blend of natural straw fibre, which takes the colour, and synthetic thread, which does not. This creates a striking contrast between the warp and the weft of the fabric.
Jinsin creates amazing shapes when curved or flexed. Jinsin can also be used over wooden hat blocks to be stiffened and blocked.
