Security

As an electronic payment system, Artipistilos S.L. is connected to the eCommerce payment gateway of a bank in Spain. All the data provided to complete your purchase is encrypted using the SSL (Secure Socket Layers) protocol to guarantee its maximum security.

How does the SSL protocol work?

It works simply by encrypting the data you send using the RSA encryption system while you are in a secure area of a browser. Your browser, working together with the secure server, encrypts the data so that, if anyone manages to intercept it during transmission, they will not be able to read it because they do not have the necessary key.

How can I tell whether a server is secure?

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will know from the padlock shown at the bottom right of your browser. You can click on it to view the Security Certificate. You will also notice that the URL changes slightly: it no longer begins with http but with https.

What is a security certificate?

A security certificate is issued by a certifying body: the Certification Authority. This body issues the certificate after checking that the encryption process (SSL) has been set up correctly and verifying the details of the applicant company. The secure server certificate is issued to an organisation whose credentials have been verified, to ensure that whoever receives the encrypted data is indeed the party who should receive it.
