INTERLINING FOR EMBROIDERY HATS AND MUCH MORE

INTERLINING FOR EMBROIDERY HATS AND MUCH MORE

No tailor, dressmaker, or in our case, hatter, can work without using interlinings. This means they often need new supplies of this material to replace the one they use. If this is your case, count on our wide range of interlinings for embroidery.

Here you'll find all the types of interlinings you might need and in different widths (from 45 cm up to 160 cm). For example, one of our favorite interlinings is the iron-on interlining, which you can attach to other fabrics with the help of an iron, without the need for sewing. Easier, impossible!

Besides the adhesive interlinings, we have interlinings for leather, specially thought for this material. In case you need to make a waistband or handle for a bag, we also have narrow interlinings ideal for this type of work.

Since interlinings are on the reverse side of the fabrics, the color of these is usually irrelevant. However, here you will find not only white interlinings, but also gray ones. As for materials, we mainly bet on viscose interlinings and cotton interlinings. A good part of them are TNT interlinings.

Whichever interlining you purchase, do not allow it to be wrinkled when you are going to work with it. If it is, forget about taking out the ironing board. Our vertical steam irons are much faster to use and don't require anything else. You can use them also for the rest of the clothes in your closet!

Most of our interlinings are already starched, so you will be able to use them as soon as they reach your home.

WHAT ARE INTERLININGS?

Interlinings are a type of fabric that is adhered or sewn into the back of a main fabric to change its characteristics, namely:

  • Reinforce the main fabric, making it stronger.
  • Give more body to the main fabric, embellishing it.
  • Prevent the garment from wrinkling easily.
  • Ensure that the garment does not lose its shape.
  • Strengthen certain components of the garment.

It is important not to confuse interlinings with interfacing fabrics, which are usually used in small areas like collars, cuffs, and linings to provide greater stiffness and strength to these areas of garments, which undergo more wear than others.

Interlinings are soft, thick, flexible and can be made of cotton, nylon, polyester, wool, or viscose. Some of them receive special treatment that makes them resistant, for example, to shrinkage or wrinkling.

WHAT ARE NON-WOVEN FABRICS OR TNT?

A non-woven fabric or non-woven textile (TNT for its acronym) is a fabric that is manufactured by bonding fibers into a web by mechanical, thermal, or chemical processes. As its name indicates, these fabrics are not woven, that is, they lack warp and weft.

Since they have no threads, they cannot fray, which makes them a very suitable material for making garments and accessories. Their appearance is like that of a sheet, similar to the veil, batting or felt. It is not very resistant, so it is used to reinforce other fabrics or with linings.
