THE BEST SEWING BINDINGS ARE AT ARTIPISTILOS

NAME: THE BEST SEWING BINDINGS ARE AT ARTIPISTILOS

Are you looking for sewing bindings to make hats, fascinators, or any other kind of garment? If so, you can count on us and the magnificent selection of bindings that we have in this section.

As for the material of our bindings, most are cotton bindings or cotton polyester bindings, safe bets. We also have linen bindings, satin bindings, velvet bindings, patent bindings, even fluorescent bindings! Don’t miss out on our iron-on bindings which you can apply to the fabric with a single pass of the iron, no sewing needed. More comfortable, impossible!

As for the designs, here you will find the widest variety of printed bindings in our entire online store. To give some examples, you will find here bindings with animal prints (tiger, leopard, zebra), camouflage, geometric, polka dots, and much more. Of course, you can always rely on our basic bindings, available in multiple colors.

Regarding the width, we have bindings with widths ranging from 8 mm to 30 mm. As you can see, there is plenty to choose from!

WHAT ARE SEWING BINDINGS?

Sewing bindings, also called 'biases', are strips of fabric cut at a 45º angle to the grain of the original fabric. The bindings have two functions: to decorate the edges of a garment (collars, sleeves, shirt flounces, skirts...) and to reinforce the edges of these garments.

To attach a binding tape, the first thing is to do it with sewing pins or tacking stitches, and then, sew a machine stitch. Then, the seams can be opened and the garment pressed to definitively fix it. Choose carefully the width of the binding and pay close attention to the distance between it and the edge of the garment when you are sewing.

WHAT IS A HABERDASHERY?

A haberdashery, also called a notions shop, is a store where products are sold for sewing, knitting, and crafts, as well as certain types of clothing.

Haberdasheries are usually small shops located in the city centers, peripheral neighborhoods, and shopping centers. In them, you can find all kinds of materials and tools for sewing crafts and other similar activities.

More specifically, they tend to sell sewing items, textile replacements, fabric trims, hair accessories, and costume jewelry, tools (thimbles, bobbin lace, crochet, cross stitch...), clothing accessories, baby clothing, lingerie, and men's underwear.

The Artipistilos team is proud to be your trusted online haberdashery. Do not hesitate to contact us for any doubts that may arise!

WHAT ARE FABRICS?

Fabrics or textiles are sheet-like materials that are manufactured by interlacing and binding threads or fibers.

When this process takes place with longitudinal (warp) and transversal (weft) threads it is called 'woven fabrics'. When it is done with loops that form a mesh it is called 'knitted fabrics' or 'tricot fabrics'. It can also be done by interlacing two or more warp threads, without weft, like some types of tulle.
